Our journey

From five friends in 1973 to a community that loves the mountains

F.O.O.G. was born in 1973, when five nature lovers from Giannitsa joined forces to bring the community closer to the mountains. We received official recognition in 1977 as an athletic association, a member of the Hellenic Federation of Winter Sports (EOXA), and despite the financial crisis of 2010 that made things harder, we kept growing. Today we count 250+ active members who volunteer their support for every activity.

Our members have stood on the podium at national ski championships and represented Greece abroad. At the same time, our partnerships with the forestry service, the parks department, and sister clubs, along with the revival of our refuge in Agia Paraskevi, show how seriously we take our relationship with the mountain. From our full-moon night hikes and the memorial route on October 19th to our trips to Borovets in Bulgaria, we keep welcoming both newcomers and old friends who want to fall in love with nature.
